Engaging Scholars Through Empowerment Education and Mentoring (ESTEEM)

Impacting Girls through Education, Scholarship, Tutoring, Empowerment, Engagement and Mentorship

Purpose: A mentoring program for girls that: builds their confidence; enhances their character, aids them in the pursuit of fulfilling their dreams and advances their scholarship in the college and career readiness standards.

Partners: The Cleveland Kirkland Foundation (CKF), in partnership with JSD Foundation, Jackson State University Department of Athletics & The Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute

The first year of the ESTEEM partnership was 2018-2019 at Hardy Academy for Career Exploration in Jackson, MS.  The program started with 11 Mentors and 22 seventh (7th) grade Girls Empowered and Mentored (GEMS).   There are now three ESTEEM sites in Mississippi - Jackson, Meridian and Starkville.
